SafeTNet is a reliable, easy-to-use, automated data backup solution. It is equipped with powerful encryption and compression tools to securely backup your data and then automatically transmit it to off-site, geographically dispersed, data centers via a secure Internet channel. - FACT: Up to 80% of tape backups fail. 80%
- FACT: 90% of businesses that lose their data are not in business 2 years later! 90%
With an easy-to-use interface, you get to quickly decide which files are backed up, how often they are backed up, and how many versions will be kept. If you know how to find a file on your computer, you know how to use this software, as our easy to follow “wizards” guide you step-by-step through the process.
Once you setup SafeTNet software, the program does the rest. It will notify you via email if the backup was successful, or if a problem was encountered. Blue Cow Software is also notified if there is ever a problem so we can help you identify and correct the issue.
You choose how many versions of a file you want to keep. For example, if you have a critically important file that changes frequently, you may wish to keep the last 30 versions for record keeping purposes. If you have other files that not mission critical, or that don’t change as often, you may decide to keep only the last two versions of those files.
How SafeTNet Backup Works
Installation and Set Up
After you sign up for Blue Cow’s SafeTNet online backup service account, you can download and install the software onto your computer or server. After installation, a unique encryption key will be created and used to encrypt all files. You will then set up your backup sets.
Backups Start Automatically
From that point on, backups start automatically according to the schedule you have set. With SafeTNet, you also have the option of manually starting a backup at any time.
Your Computer is Searched
When a backup starts, your hard drive is scanned for any files that are new or have changed since your last backup. Only these files are transmitted, minimizing the time it takes to perform a backup, and reducing the necessary bandwidth.
Files Are Compressed & Encrypted
Once the SafeTNet software identifies a file that needs to be backed up, it compresses the file using industry leading compression technology. After being compressed, each file is individually encrypted using your unique 256 bit encryption key. Because your encryption key is stored only on your computer and is never transmitted over the Internet, no one but you can access your files.
Files Are Sent Securely Over the Internet
For added security, each encrypted file is then sent over the Internet via a secure channel using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology.
Files Are Stored in Multiple Data Centers
All of your files are sent to two secure data centers, located hundreds of miles apart from each other. Each data center has 24/7 monitoring, advanced security, backup generators and redundant connections to the Internet. Double the protection!
Restoring Your Files is Easy!
With SafeTNet, restoring lost or damaged files can be done with just a few clicks of your mouse. You can retrieve your files at any time and as often as you need. Using the SafeTNet software, simply click on the individual files or folders that you want to retrieve and they will be restored to your hard drive.
